About Pixel Coin Adventure

Pixel Coin Adventure is the strictest platformer here. There is no double jump and no air recovery of any kind — once you leave a platform, the arc you are on is the arc you get. Every platform has to be reachable from the one before it, which makes the routes tight and deliberate rather than flowing. It is also the longest set of levels on the site at three, and the art is deliberately blocky: no smooth curves anywhere, including on the collector itself.

How to play

  1. Move and jump. There is no second jump and no way to change your arc in the air.
  2. Jump height is variable — holding the button jumps higher, tapping gives a short hop.
  3. Drones patrol back and forth between platform sections. Time your approach.
  4. Three lives, respawning at the level start.
  5. Three levels. Clear all of them to finish the run.

How to collect coins in Pixel Coin Adventure

Coin lines sit on and between platforms along the intended route, and short lines appear on the platforms that are easiest to overshoot, which is a deliberate hint about where the jump should land. Gems and treasure are placed at the start and end of the third level respectively, as bookends rather than as scattered bonuses.

Collectibles in this game

Collectible types and values
CollectibleWhat it is worth
CoinsThe baseline collectible, worth one unit of value.
GemsWorth ten coins and counts double toward the combo streak.
TreasureWorth twenty-five coins and counts triple toward the combo. Never affected by the magnet.

Every coin here is virtual. Coins, gems, tokens and treasure in this game are in-game collectibles with a point value inside the game and no monetary value of any kind. They cannot be bought, sold, exchanged or withdrawn, and this site has no currency system.

Power-ups in Pixel Coin Adventure

Power-ups appear during a run and activate the moment you touch one. None of them can be bought, none carry over between runs, and collecting one you already have refreshes its duration rather than stacking it.

  • ShieldAbsorbs one hit and then breaks. It saves the run, but the combo streak still resets.
  • Double ValueDoubles the value of every collectible for eight seconds. Applies before the combo multiplier, so the two stack.

How scoring works

Coins are worth 10 points before multipliers. Each level clear is worth 500 and a full coin sweep of a level adds 750, so with three levels the completion bonuses dominate the score.

Points for each pickup are its base value, multiplied by any active double-value effect, multiplied by your current combo tier. Distance and completion bonuses are awarded flat, outside that chain.

The combo system

The combo window is 2.6 seconds with tiers at 5, 12, 20, 32 and 46, capped at 5x. The cap is lower than the flowing platformers because precise single-jump platforming naturally involves pauses.

Difficulty

Hard

Hard. Not because of hazard density but because the single jump removes every form of mid-air correction, and three levels means holding that precision for much longer than the other platformers ask.

Tips for a better score

  • Jump from the very edge of a platform, not the middle. The extra distance is often the difference on the longer gaps.
  • Tap for short hops. Over-jumping and landing past a platform is the most common death in this game.
  • Drones move on a fixed patrol. Watch one full sweep before you commit to the platform it guards.
  • Level three is noticeably longer than the first two. Bank your lives in the early levels rather than chasing every coin.
  • There is no air control here worth speaking of, so commit before you jump and not after.

Features

  • One jump only, with no air recovery
  • Three levels, the longest set in the catalogue
  • Blocky pixel art with no anti-aliased curves
  • Patrolling drones between platform sections
  • Three lives

Pixel Coin Adventure — frequently asked questions

Is there really no double jump?

Correct. One jump per grounded period, and no air control to speak of. That constraint is what defines the game.

How many levels are there?

Three, which is the longest set in the catalogue. Most of the other platformers have two.

Are the coins worth money?

No. Every coin, gem and treasure chest here is a virtual in-game collectible used for scoring.

Is this based on an existing retro game?

No. The art style is a general nod to early arcade platformers, but the levels, characters, art and code are entirely original to this site.
